Seeing Your Doctor
All doctors see patients by appointment. Surgeries commence at 07:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 08:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 08:30 on Saturday.
To arrange an appointment please use the appointments Line - 01225 613100. press 1 to choose Oldfield then press 1 for our automated booking service or press 2 to speak with a receptionist.
You can also book doctors appointments online. Please attend the surgery with photo ID to obtain a username and password.
Whenever possible, please make an appointment with your usual doctor, but, if the problem is urgent, and your doctor is unavailable because he/she is fully booked or away from the practice, the receptionist will invite you to see another doctor.
Please inform the receptionist if you need to book an appointment for a special medical examination. Side rooms are available for anyone in physical or emotional distress, again please inform the receptionist.
We also offer a number of telephone appointments that are bookable - a GP will call you to discuss your problem - please call our normal appointments line if you'd like to book a telephone appointment, or speak to a receptionist.
We hold an urgent surgery, which is only bookable by telephone from 8.00am for morning surgery and from 1.00pm for afternoon surgery. Please note we no longer run a walk in and wait service. You will be offered a telephone appointment, where the Doctor will phone you back to triage your problem. They may be able to deal with your request over the phone, but if they feel they need to see you, they will book a face to face appointment with you for later that morning or afternoon. Urgent surgery appointments are available between 08:30 - 10:30, and 14:00 - 16:00, Mondays to Fridays. These are shorter 5 minute appointments, please do not expect the doctor to deal with more than one problem in these surgeries.
Every day appointments are wasted when patients do not attend. If you are unable to keep an appointment we do ask that you make every effort to inform the Surgery in good time so that your appointment may be offered to another patient.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. Telephone the surgery and either press 2 for our automated service which gives you an option to cancel your appointment or stay on the line to speak with a receptionist. Alternatively you can cancel appointments online.
